CCDI performed a strong finish earning 42 medals with 14 Gold, 22 Silver and five 6 Bronze in the recently concluded PRISAA REGIONAL GAMES 2024 held last April 12 – 14, in Sorsogon City.
CCDI team composed of 36 athletes participated in this intense competition of five member provinces such as: Albay, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Masbate and Sorsogon.
CCDI Karatedo team had a grandslam win with 10 medals. Zharlohotte D. Lerio kicked 3 gold medals in Individual Kata, Kumite 65kg and Team Kumite, and one silver for Team Kata.
The Senior High School karate sensation, Jude Marion Andes bring home three gold categories of – team kata, Kumite 56 kg and Team Kumite. Meanwhile, John Francis p. Sentes stroked home two golds and one bronze in Kumite, 48 kg and Team kata, and bronze in Individual Kata.
Aliah Rose B. Peralta was marked gold in Kumite – 60 kg and bronze in Individual kata for Juniors – Girls division.
The newbie athlete for weightlifting Reymark Guevarra lifted three gold in up to 87 kg category while Samuel James Atrasado and Alex Maravilla (Up to 80 kg) bring home six silvers.
Jhon Glenn Olbes, Grade 12 student remains unopposed in 80 kg heavyweight category in Boxing adding Gold to CCDI’s medal bucket.
Meanwhile CCDI three basketball teams – Seniors – Men both 5×5 and 3×3, and basketball Juniors boys 3×3 events finished the game with 11 silver medals.
Billiards provincial contenders Marielle Gavino finished Silver in 9 balls women division while Emmanuel Anthony Balaoro secured the silver spot for 9 balls –men category.
Taekwondo jins, Jennelyn Dugan was awarded silver in middleweight category, Lorain Dioquino for Seniors- Women flyweight category; and, lastly Francis Russel Fresnido earned Bronze in open weight category.
SHS tennis athlete, Renald Sicad ened the competition Silver in Lawan Tennis while Chess contender, Abby Jamoralin finished bronze in seniors – Men division.
6 CCDI athletes – Lerio, Peralta, Sentes, Andes, Olbes and Guevarra of CCDI will represent Bicol in the coveted PRISAA National Games on July 20 – 26, 2024 in Legazpi City.
