To celebrate its 76th Founding Anniversary and the legacy of the Alfelor Family in the learning community, the University of Northeastern Philippines (UNEP) hosted an inter-school friendly competition with 6 other Alfelor institutions, namely: Partido College, Felix Alfelor Sr. Foundation College (FAFC), Alfelor Sr. Memorial College (ASMC), CCDI Legazpi, CCDI Naga, and CCDI Sorsogon. The competition commenced on March 17, 2024 and concluded on March 21, 2024.
Showcasing their outstanding performance and commitment to excellence, CCDI delegates secured a number of significant awards across various events. For the LITMUSDA competition, Paola Lasala was hailed as Champion for Spoken Poetry, thanks to the invaluable support of her coach, Mr. Aaron Paul Ramos.
With the ever-supportive Mr. Raniel Estuaria as coach, Daphne Bermundo and Izer Jalmasco claimed the spot as 3rd Runner-Up in the Vocal Duet while Dodiel Bermundo dominated with her vocal prowess in the Vocal Solo competition and emerged as Champion. Wella Mae Gaton and Lean Andre Diamante typified their excellence in the Dancesports competition, securing the 2nd Runner-Up spot.
Meanwhile, the CCDI Wildcats, under the guidance of Head Coach Jonathan Alibarbar, Assistant Coach Jesus Lagata, and Coach Billy Joe Belga, dominated the basketball competition, with the Men’s 5×5 and 3×3 teams both emerging as Champions, and the Women 3×3 team achieving 1st Runner-Up.
In volleyball, the men’s team, coached by Alvin Dela Cruz, displayed determination and skill and secured the 2nd Runner-Up position.
The badminton teams also excelled, with the men’s team comprising Ely Lariosa, Bergell Dio, Johndhel Cabayo, and Jayvee Jebulan, earning 1st Runner-Up, and the women’s team with Althea Mae Labasbas, Misty Javines, Rhonalyn Rodulfo, and Lean Beriña, claiming the 2nd Runner-Up spot.
Jenine Duka secured 1st Runner-Up in Scrabble Women category, with coach Mr. Aaron Paul Ramos. CCDI Sorsogon also excelled in Chess, with Arby Jamoralin as 1st Runner-Up in Board 1 and Kyle Nepomuceno as Champion in Board 2.
CCDIans also thrived in the E-sports competition, earning the 1st Runner-Up spot, with Bonel Gardon, Vince Ian Escopete, John Rafael Escanilla, Ralph Brogada, and John Rick Dominguez. They attribute this win to their coach, Mr. Junnel Fadrilan.
Moreover, CCDIans showcased not just their talents and skills, but also their wit. Ella Noela Ramos, Althea Stephanie Pura and Gabriel De Vera finished the Academic Contest as 1st Runner-Up.
These achievements are testaments to the culture of excellence inculcated in CCDIans and how the institution has empowered them to thrive in every opportunity, be it in talent competitions, sports, and academics. This will be one of the legacies of the Alfelor Family – an empowered learning community deeply committed to excellence.
